Café Estación V

The way I see it; connecting with someone or something, is based on meaningful experiences that, in a way or another, enriches different aspects of life. It is so that the experiences that I have lived thanks to my connection and collaboration with Estación V, especially my friendship with its founder Gustavo Ramírez Moreno and his family, had brought to this day a great value to my personal journey and professional trajectory.

Como yo lo veo; conectar con alguien o algo, se basa en vivir experiencias significativas, que de una forma u otra, enriquecen distintos aspectos de la vida. De tal forma que las experiencias que he vivido gracias a mi conexión y colaboración con Estación V, especialmente mi amistad con su fundador Gustavo Ramírez Moreno y su familia, aportan al día de hoy un gran valor a mi persona y trayectoria profesional. 

La Estación V, produces and sells high mountain coffee from the region of Coatepec, Veracruz. Although the history that gives its background to this project begins in the late 50's with the Ramirez and Moreno families, the origin of this project particularly begins 15 years ago with the opening of the coffee shop that bears his name, located in the heart of Coatepec.

La Estación V, es una empresa productora y comercializadora de café de altura de la región de Coatepec, Veracruz. Aunque la historia que da trasfondo a este proyecto comienza en los años 50 's con las familias Ramírez y Moreno, el origen de este proyecto particularmente comienza hace 15 años con la apertura de la cafetería que lleva su nombre, ubicada en el corazón de Coatepec. 

It wasn't too long after the coffee shop opened its doors that the idea to have its own brand of coffee emerged, and with it, the need to venture into new possibilities of sharing the coffee of the region. Although for a long time the coffee production of the family farm was commercialized, today Café Estación V is connecting and working  with coffee producers from nearby areas, with whom they share the vision of responsible management of the crops, and the desire to offer a quality product that differentiates them from the rest, without being pretentious.

No pasó mucho tiempo para que naciera la necesidad de tener una marca propia de café y así, comenzar a incursionar en nuevas posibilidades de compartir el café de la región, que aunque por mucho tiempo se comercializó la producción de la finca familiar, hoy se apuesta por involucrar el conocimiento y café de otros productores de zonas cercanas con quienes se comparte la visión sobre el manejo responsable de los cultivos, y el deseo de ofrecer un producto de calidad que los diferencie y sin pretensiones. 

Although Gustavo and I met at the end of high school and then lost contact, it was until 2017 that he gave a talk at a local coffee shop, that we had the chance to reconnect and came up with the idea to do a collaboration, since then, I have participated in content creation, social media management, web design, event coverage, sales and marketing support, and as part of the team in the most important coffee expos in the country.

Aunque Gustavo y yo nos conocimos al final de la preparatoria y después perdimos contacto, fue hasta el 2017 que él tuvo una presentación donde reconectamos ya en el plano profesional y acordamos hacer una colaboración, desde entonces, he participado en la generación de contenidos, gestión de plataformas digitales, cobertura de eventos, apoyo en ventas y marketing, y como parte del equipo en las expos sobre café más importantes del país.

Traveling with the Estación V project has taken me to many different places, where I have been able to get to know closely the traditions, knowledge and nature around coffee and its production; the people that live from it and for it, its landscapes, processes and methods. Especially the trips to events such as Expo Café, have helped me a lot to understand the interactions between producers and all shorts of potential clients. From what I have been able to hear and watch, beyond packaging, cool designs, awards or trends, (I might even dare to say that even beyond the coffee itself), what connects with the consumer in this type of events, is the energy of the people behind each coffee brand, and the energy of Estación V team knows how to stand out. This is something very special that helps me to find the type of story I want to tell thought the photographic documentation.

Viajar por y con el proyecto de Estación V, me ha llevado a muchos y diferentes lugares, en donde he podido conocer de cerca las tradiciones, conocimiento y la naturaleza que rodea al café y a su producción; las personas que viven de él y para él, sus paisajes, procesos y métodos. Especialmente los viajes a eventos como Expo Café, me han servido mucho para entender las interacciones entre productores y todo tipo de clientes potenciales. De lo que he podido escuchar y observar, más allá de los empaques, diseños, premios o tendencias incluso me atrevería a decir que más allá del mismo café, lo que conecta con el consumidor en este tipo de eventos, es la energía de las personas detrás de cada propuesta, y la energía del equipo de Estación V abre camino y se hace notar siempre. Esto es algo muy especial que me ayuda a encontrar el tipo de historia que busco contar a lo largo de la documentación fotográfica.

Nevertheless, one of the most valuable things in this experience has been the opportunity to witness and tell my side of this great story, a story that is written every day thanks to the work and determination of Gustavo, and with the support of the people who have collaborated and continue to collaborate with him.

Sin embargo, lo más valioso de esta experiencia ha sido la oportunidad de ser testigo y contar mi versión de esta gran historia, una historia que se escribe cada día gracias al trabajo y la determinación de Gustavo, y con el apoyo de las personas que han colaborado y siguen colaborando con él.
